Hemlock Autumnsbane

Count Hemlock ap Gwydion, Destroyer of the Wolf of Grey Shadows, Slayer of The Horned Beast, Count of Bergen, NJ, formerly Baron of Everwyrd in Greenwich Village, NY.

Hemlock has gone by many names over time. His early quests to destroy certain beasts and stave off the creatures of Autumn earned him the surname Autumnsbane. He was also credited with rescuing Manhattan from the terrible "Hole in the sky". These acts of heroism and martial skill earned him the title of baron and the holding of Everwyrd in Greenwich Village Manhattan. Hemlock distinguished himself as a leader during the Battle of the Nexus, in which the Fomorians were beaten on their own ground by the Kithain of Concordia. For this, he was elevated to the rank of Count by Queen Mab. Believing he could help more Kithain in his new capacity, he accepted the rank and a freehold in Bergen County.

Despite being of House Gwydion, Hemlock has displayed some Fiona tendencies over time. His love for members of the commoner kith has often raised eyebrows in some sidhe circles, especially from his former liege, Count Jarred of Triumph Court. The elevation of twin cat pookas to knighthood was frowned upon when he was a baron and he was warned to knight no more commoners. Almost immediately after that, he married a satyr, thereby elevating her to Baroness, sidestepping his orders. His promotion to Count and move to New Jersey made these orders no longer a concern.

As Count of Caer Falken in Alpine, NJ, he ruled actively with his bride, Countess Archway, beside him. They were happy for a few years and Archway, already a grump, became pregnant. Her moods became erratic and her tendency to go Savage increased in frequency. Her mastery of the Art of Wayfare enabled her to travel virtually anywhere, making her hard to track, despite possessing treasures that were crafted to keep in touch. Her mood swings became more frequent and violent, and her jealousy over a sidhe named Maeve, caused her to insist Hemlock banish her, just as Maeve was starting to take up a position at Caer Falken. The banishment did not appease her, and she shortly thereafter vanished from Caer Falken along with their unborn child.

For ten years, Hemlock searched for her, expending all of his resources and utilizing his vassal barons and knights to this end. Experts in the Arts of Soothsay and Wayfare failed to locate Archway and her mortal medical practice had already written her off as a missing person long ago. Seeking the appropriate authorities, both in the fae and mortal realms, he had the marriage annulled and the Oath of the Trueheart released, not wishing her to be considered Oathbroken if she still lived. A Grump, working as a doctor, is exposed to a great deal of Banality and most feared she had been undone and there was the very the real possibility that she was dead. It has been 15 years since Archway Portico has been seen in the County of Bergen.

Hemlock is now a grump or a greybeard, both terms he despises, and so refuses to acknowledge the fact. He never sleeps away from Caer Falken or some other freehold, remaining ever close to sources of glamour to retain his wilder-like appearance.

To mortals, Hemlock is known as Henry Loch. Henry made his fortune through his gaming company, "Loch and Key". During the collectible craze of Trading Card Games, Pogs and Collectible Dice Games, Henry invented a collectible coin game called "Flip Wars". This is how he made his fortune. The company has evolved, now making computer games for consoles and computers, including an MMO, and manufacturing collectible toys and comic books derived from those games. Unlike life in the fae realm, his business has known nothing but success.

Mortal Appearance:

Henry Loch stands about 5'10" and weighs about 160 lb. He has strawberry blonde hair and green eyes, with sharp and narrow features derived from his Celtic descent. He is normally clean shaven, though he sometimes sports a goatee. He is muscular in a toned way, not an over-developed jock, and he is often taken for someone younger than he is, Despite being in his mid thirties. He is fond of designer suits at work, but tends towards jeans and T-Shirts during his leisure time. He can be seen around the New York tri-state area driving his forest green Porsche 918 Spyder.

Fae Mien:

Count Hemlock stands almost six feet tall, yet his regal bearing makes him seem taller. His platinum blonde hair is offset by his emerald eyes. His nose, chin and ears are somewhat pointy, with the latter being prominent, yet elegant for a feature so large. His frame is thin, his complexion pale, though he looks neither weak nor sickly. His well toned musculature is evident, even beneath his silky voile, which is usually black and scarlet or green, and flows over his skin. He is usually serious, and scowls or sneers frequently, though he has been known to smile brightly.

Lucidia: Hemlock's prized possession is his blade Lucidia.  The blade appears as a shard of blue ice, with cold flames of azure that flicker up and down the blade.  It has been enchanted so that it may not be handled or picked up by anyone who has not been granted permission to do so.  It seldom leaves his possession, being kept safely upon his back, or in his hands, where it is most dangerous.
